Moonlighting as your Washington DC Crime Prevention Examiner has been exuberant and amazing. I pride myself on contributing much as I can as a member of the Greater Media and Arts Communities. The Arts and Arts Education is something I valued as a child - and even today as an adult! I also believe - as intelligent human beings, we may all feel the need to attach ourselves or even allow ourselves to become consumed to something or another; that which can bring someone pride, acceptance or even sometimes courage - are neutral characteristics the same. When we talk about preventing crime in the first place, for any modern society to ponder - is how much of that pride, acceptance and courage will go into intelligent investments for children in and out of the classroom time.
Since moving to the DC area 3 years ago, I was instantly moved by the courage and strength DC Public Charter Schools have displayed in there efforts to involve a broad set of partners, encourage a comfortable teacher/student ratio, invite innovation in new curriculum and professional recruitment, while enhancing our children with the educational and social aspects needed to compete on a global scale.

Two Rivers opened its doors in the fall of 2004 to students across Washington, DC, and currently enrolls roughly 400 students in classes from preschool through 8th grade. The school’s instructional model is Expeditionary Learning Outward Bound, an interactive, hands-on, project-based approach to learning. Two Rivers focuses on several aspects of learning, recognizing the importance a character education plays in helping students achieve academic excellence. Its curriculum is rigorous, standards-based, and provides opportunities for students to excel in all areas. An integrated arts program and a content-based Spanish program augment the school’s demanding academics.Talk about innovative educational options for Children and Families.
Continuing the trend of heightening Creative Arts Education for Children, as Arts administrator at PAAVE Inc. and an instructional artist myself, Two Rivers Public Charter School has been in myradar since moving here to DC, where I most certainly plan to introduce Innovative Social Arts Projects to the administrative staff, children, and parents association.
